Wooden Car Track

At the age of 15 I had to create a wooden toy for my GCSE Design & Technology coursework. I decided to make a wooden car click clack track because as a child I remember the movement of the cars made this an engaging toy.

The final design I came up with had rounded edges to make it safe to play with. I decided not to paint the final prototype because I thought that the wooden finish would suit more home environments and it could be an ornamental piece when not in use.

Final Model

When designing and making the wooden click clack track there was much debate about whether the cars would flip over at the end of each section. Therefore, I came up with a smooth design which was identical on both sides in case they did flip. When testing the prototype, we found that the cars flipped every time which made it more exciting to watch.
